Overview
As a Data Science Leader in Government, modeling, developing, and improving applications and analytics are core aspects of your role. Your time is primarily spent collaborating with teams, explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leaders, addressing data hygiene challenges, negotiating budgets and sponsorship, and communicating your vision effectively.
It’s unsurprising that a recent survey highlighted relationship building, influencing, communication, and team engagement as key factors influencing the effectiveness of Data and Analytics Leaders.
As a data scientist, you’re frequently tasked with conveying your findings and recommendations to non-technical colleagues, including senior management, other departments within your organization, or even customers. Therefore, developing strong communication skills is essential. Your challenge lies in simplifying complex technical concepts, relating your expertise within a business context, and tailoring your message for multi-disciplinary teams.
The “Communicating Your Data Science Expertise to Non-Experts” workshop aims to assist you in refining your communication, negotiation, persuasion, and listening skills as you progress towards becoming a more effective leader. Through a blend of presentations, interactive group discussions, and expert feedback sessions, this course equips you with a practical toolkit to effectively communicate your technical expertise, understand your non-technical audience, and navigate challenging situations with confidence.
